First Lady Dr. Yolanda Spraggins-Wilson

 

Yolanda Spraggins Wilson M.D. is native of Detroit Michigan. An honors graduate of Renaissance High School, she received scholarship offers from Harvard, Cornell, the University of Michigan and the University of Pennsylvania. She enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania where she received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology. From there she matriculated at the Duke University School of Medicine where she received her Doctorate of Medicine Degree.

 

She completed her residency in pediatrics at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. While in residency, she was recognized as an outstanding young resident.

 

In 1997 she relocated to Chattanooga, TN where she began a practice in pediatrics with Galen Medical Group. In addition to working as a practicing physician, she has worked as a part time faculty member at the UT School of Medicine for a number of years. She is proud of the fact that several of her former patients and mentees are currently enrolled in Medical schools throughout the U.S.

 

Understanding the value of community service, Dr. Wilson has been a frequent speaker at schools, youth groups and women’s events. She has served on several boards of directors including, the Volunteer School and as Chief of Staff for Erlanger Children’s Hospital. In 2014 she was recognized as one of the top ten female pediatricians in Chattanooga.

 

Over the years Dr. Wilson has received numerous awards including National Merit Scholar, Who’s Who among medical students and physicians. She is member of the Chattanooga Chapter of the Links Inc. and the Greater Chattanooga Chapter of Jack and Jill of America.

 

Since uniting with the New United Baptist Church family she has actively worked in the AWANA children’s ministry as a teacher. Additionally, she coordinates with the women’s ministry.


Dr. Yolanda Wilson is married to Pastor Jeffrey T. Wilson and are the parents of one child, Thomas Jeremiah Wilson
